Basic Lesson 4: How to Use COL Financial "QUOTES"

Below is the step by step on how to use COL quotes including the explanation of some basic stock rules:

As previously mentioned in the Basic Lesson 3 on tab No. 2., you just have to click the "Quotes Tab". As a start, we go to the specific stock query then type the specific stock code. Once you type the stock code then information about the stocks come out. Let me discuss the information that this specific query will provide.

1. This where you will find the volume of BUY (BID) and SELL (ASK). This is where you can analyze and observe price action of a specific stock. The basic are as follows: If buy volume is higher than sell side then the stock is in demand and most probably the stock would go up but if otherwise then most probably it would go down.
2. This is an overview only of how much and who are the brokers that are BUYING/SELLING this mentioned stock. Also you can see the volume of buying and selling undertaking during the period. Usually, this is not material for position trading but maybe useful for momentum/day trading.
3. This is where you will find the movement of your stocks. If it goes up or down.
4. This is  called "BOARD LOT". Board Lot means you should buy in multiples of that amount. For this example of BPI, it has a board lot of "10" hence you need to buy stocks in multiples of 10. Say 10 shares, 20 shares, or 100 shares. You cannot buy in an amount, say 5, 25, 38, or 33. This is called odd lot.
5. Floor Price and Ceiling Price - This is a control implemented by Philippine Stock Exchange against possible price manipulation. The computation of Floor Price is -50% of previous day closing price while Ceiling Price is +50% of the previous day closing price.
For our example on BPI:
Floor Price (89.95 x 50%) =  44.975
Ceiling Price (89.95 x 1.50%) = 134.925
- My percepted reason why there is a ceiling or flooring price is as follow: kasi ung mga ibang maraming pera e pwede nila imanipulate ung price lalong lalo na kung very cheap lang ung stock price. Kayang kaya nila paglaruan na pataasin at pababain. Nagkaroon ng ceiling at flooring para may limit ung pag taas at pagbaba.

That is the reason why the COL suggests mostly blue chip stocks.

COL Six Pack
- Six pack e ndi ibig sabihin na six packs na ab okay. This is only the quotes tab features that allows you to view six stocks in a page and can monitor their price actions simultaneously. I think that's it.

COL Watch List
- This COL Watch List allows you to view around 30 stocks in a row. I am constantly monitoring this page because these is where I compile my favorite stocks. I probably studied most of them and I am very familiar with their fundamental and technical position.

COL Stock List
- This is where you can find all companies traded in PSE.

COL Charting

- Once you click the charting, please note that it will direct you to a new tab. This is where you can apply your charting skills to analyze or predict the future outcome of stock price. What you can see above is not the default view of COL charting. What you can see above is my real charting worksheet. You have to create your own.

Okay, I think that is pretty much it regarding COL Quotes. I discuss the most elaborate way of using it.

Good Luck!
